Our internship program provides the criminal justice and or social work student with a hands-on introduction to the diverse and fascinating aspects of a local law enforcement agency within San Juan County. The student works closely with sworn deputies and detectives in every department within the Sheriff’s Office. He or she will be afforded valuable experience and insight into every step of a criminal investigation.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: An unpaid internship with the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office allows students to get professional experience, typically while obtaining credit for school. If you are a student, please see your Department Internship Advisor for details on how to register for the credits.
There are currently TWO openings for internships available with the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office.
Position Description
The intern will assist with updating and maintaining the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office website. Develop and implement a plan to attract more people to our website. Develop and implement a plan to use the most popular pages on our website (arrests & warrants) to share information. Develop and implement new features to be added to www.sjcso.com. Intern will also assist with updating and maintaining the Sheriff’s Office social media sites (Facebook, Twitter).
This is a great opportunity for strengthening a resume with a professional, highly visible website. Research website designs and will provide samples to the Sheriff’s Office for implementation. If a new design is selected, the intern will create a new Sheriff’s Office website and will be responsible for content development and daily updates. This is an unpaid internship.

Preference will be given to those candidates who are at least an undergraduate junior or who meet requirements through his or her college or university to be eligible for academic credit.
