Update to Homicide that Occurred on June 22, 2013

San Juan County, NM - On Saturday, June 22, 2013 at approximately 0930 hours San Juan County Sheriff’s deputies were notified of the body of a deceased female. The body was found in a rural area south of Farmington. The body was subsequently identified as 29 year-old Brandy Robinson of Bloomfield, New Mexico. An autopsy revealed that Robinson died of stab injuries.

Sheriff’s Office detectives identified a person of interest in the case and several search warrants were obtained and executed. One of those warrants included a truck belonging to Michael Graham, age 40, of Farmington, NM. During a search of Graham’s truck, a number of homemade explosive devices were found hidden in the vehicle. A search was conducted on Graham’s house and several firearms were located in his bedroom.

Graham, a convicted felon, was subsequently arrested and booked into the San Juan County Detention Center on two counts of felon in possession of a firearm or destructive device by a felon and two counts of tampering with evidence. Graham’s criminal history includes previous arrests for drugs, firearms, bringing contraband into jail, escape from custody, possession of firearm or explosive device by a felon, cruelty to animals, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His current collective bond amounts to $100,000 cash only.

“The homicide investigation is active and ongoing,” said Detective’s Division Lieutenant Cordell Tanner. “We have solid information we are tracking down. It’s just sad that those who considered Brandy to be a friend will not come forward with details of her whereabouts at or before the time of her death, or the individual(s) responsible for this cowardly act of violence. Anyone involved in the cover-up or fabrication of alibis will be charged appropriately.”
