Three Homicide Suspects In Custody, Said to be Cooperating with Law Enforcement

San Juan County, NM – This afternoon San Juan County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested another individual wanted for questioning in the May 27th homicide of Anthony Jaquez. The body of Jaquez had been found on Sunday, May 27, 2012 in a rural area approximately 2 miles north of NM 516.

SJC Detectives were in Phoenix Arizona working on information they had received from tips. Working in conjunction with the Maricopa Sheriff’s Office, SJC Detectives followed leads and established communication with suspect Vincent Montoya, age 28. After a series of communications with SJC Detectives, Montoya agreed to turn himself into SJC Detectives.

Montoya is the third suspect to be placed in custody for questioning in this homicide. Yesterday evening the Maricopa Sheriff’s Office arrested Sarah Martinez, age 26 as she was also wanted for questioning. A third suspect, Gabriel Alcon, age 22 was arrested in Bloomfield, NM on June 6th by the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office.

Alcon was also booked on a warrant for Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and shooting at a dwelling. These charges are related to an incident that occurred several days prior to the homicide.

Charges are pending for Montoya and Martinez. They are said to be cooperating with authorities.

The search continues for Richard Winters, age 20, also wanted for questioning in the case. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Winters is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office.
