Suspect Arrested for Criminal Sexual Penetration Charge out of Durango, CO

San Juan County, NM - On Monday, September 23, 2013, deputies arrested a 25 year-old Kirtland (NM) resident on the charge of Criminal Sexual Penetration.  Bryan Bunion was arrested without incident at his residence on County Road 6480 following an investigation as to his whereabouts.

“We were contacted by Durango Police Detective Joseph Farmer regarding an incident that had occurred in Durango,” explained San Juan County Sheriff’s Office Detective Tim Nyce.  “Farmer asked for our assistance in locating a rape suspect who was believed to live here in San Juan County.”

The incident had occurred in Durango, CO sometime over the weekend.  “We were told that several individuals had been partying together in Durango,” explained Nyce.  “At some point one of the females present passed out.  Bunion then raped her.”  The incident was witnessed by another female who happened to walk into the room while it was taking place.

“The witness knew Bunion and was able to provide Durango Police with his name and a physical description,” said Nyce.  “The only address listed for Bunion was a post office box.  We were able to do some investigating and find his home address.  We then contacted Durango Police with this information and they issued an arrest warrant.”

BunionThe arrest warrant was issued last night by both San Juan County Sheriff’s Deputies and the US Marshall’s Office.  Bunion was arrested without incident and booked into the San Juan County Detention Center under a $250,000 cash bond.  He is currently awaiting extradition to Durango, CO.
