Special Enforcement Team Seeks Couple for Trafficking & Distribution

San Juan County, NM - The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office recently received information regarding a residence located in the vicinity of 5700 Old Kirtland Highway in Farmington, NM.  “We are told that quite a lot of traffic was coming and going from the residence,” explained Special Enforcement Team Sergeant Scott Facka.  “The individual who provided the tip described activity that was consistent with that of drug sales.”

On Thursday, February 13. 2014, members of the Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team (SET) went to the residence.  “We made contact with a female who said she lived at the mobile home with her boyfriend,” continued Facka.  The woman, was identified as 23 year-old ShawnTe Dawes.

Dawes denied selling drugs but admitted that she and her boyfriend, 22 year-old Jeramiah Wiggins had some marijuana inside the home.  Deputies secured the residence and obtained a search warrant.  During the execution of the warrant deputies located an ounce of marijuana, an ounce of cocaine, $4,300 in cash, documents supporting the sale of narcotics, and four pistols.  “The drugs and weapons were hidden throughout the house,” explained Facka.

SET members secured arrest warrants for the couple, charging each of them with:

  • Trafficking of a controlled substance (a 2nd degree felony),
  •  Distribution of Marijuana (a 4th degree felony) and,
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia (a misdemeanor).
