Nine Members of the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office Receive Promotions

SAN JUAN COUNTY, NM – Sheriff Ken Christesen is pleased to announce the promotions of nine individuals (three Lieutenants, three Sergeants and three new Detectives). The promotions took place during the months of March and April.

Sergeants Shane Ferrari, Cory Tanner and Daniel Webb were all promoted to Lieutenant, Deputies Kyle Lincoln, Scott Facka and Danny Clugston were promoted to Sergeant while Deputies Candice Montoya, Kevin Burns and Garrett Morris were promoted to the rank of Detective.

Lieutenant Shane Ferrari began his career with San Juan County Sheriff’s Office as a Reserve Deputy in 1998. He has most recently been working as a the Special Enforcement Team Sergeant. Shane is also the Tactical Team Leader on the SWAT team. In addition to this he has held various positions within the Sheriff’s Office such as Patrol Sergeant and Detective. Shane has been assigned the role of Patrol Lieutenant.

Lieutenant Cory Tanner has been a member of the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office in 2003. Cory has been assigned as the Detective Lieutenant and brings more than four years experience as a detective to the position. Cory has also spent time as both a Patrol Sergeant and a Detective Sergeant.

Deputy Daniel Webb is the new Support Services Lieutenant. Lt. Webb has been with the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office since 1997. He has most recently been working as the Support Services Sergeant. Daniel also brings prior experiences such as a Patrol Deputy and a School Resource Officer.

Sergeant Kyle Lincoln has been employed with the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office since 1998. His most recent position has been that of Detective. Kyle has also been a Field Train Officer for the Sheriff’s Office.

Sergeant Scott Facka was hired as a Deputy with the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office 2003. In 2006 Scott took on the role of School Resource Officer. Scott was promoted to Detectives in 2007 where he earned an award for Exceptional Service.

Sergeant Danny Clugston started his career with the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office as a Patrol Deputy in 2002. He was promoted to Detectives in 2007 where he also earned an award for Exceptional Service.

Detective Candice Montoya has been with the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office since 2008. She has most recently been working as a Gang Task Force Officer. Candice also has experience as a Criminal Investigator, Deputy Medical Investigator and a Crime Analyst.

Detective Kevin Burns started his career with the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office in 2007. He spent three years as a Patrol Deputy. He most recent had been working as a member of the Special Enforcement Team.

Detective Garrett Morris has been employed with the Sheriff’s Office since 2005 where he became a Patrol Deputy. In 2008 Garrett became a Field Training Officer. He also earned the title of Crisis Negotiator in 2010.

“It is always a pleasure to reward and recognize hard work and dedication,” said Sheriff Ken Christesen. “These individuals have shown tremendous initiative and I know they will continue to represent the Sheriff’s Office and serve San Juan County with a high level of integrity and professionalism.”

This statement was echoed by the Undersheriff, Ron Anderson. “We are pleased to have such progressive thinking officers in our organization,” said Anderson. ” These dedicated individuals will play a critical role in leading the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office into the future.”
