Region II Arrests Three, Seizing Methamphetamine and Cocaine


On 01/05/2011 Region II, with the assistance of the Farmington and Sheriff’s Office SWAT Teams along with the US Marshall’s and K-9 teams from both Farmington and Bloomfield Police, served search warrants for trafficking narcotics on two residences in San Juan County.

26-year-old Mexican National Artemio Sandoval and 20-year-old Brianna Mendvil were located inside the residence located at 901 Hillside Dr. in Farmington behind the Bluffview motel with a small child. Sandoval was booked on the following charges; two counts of trafficking Methamphetamine, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Sandoval is also on an ICE detainer for being in the US illegally and has one prior deportation. Mendvil was booked for one count of Trafficking Methamphetamine. The child was released from the scene to a family friend.

33-year-old Mexican National Guadalupe Sandoval-Medina (sister of Artemio) was located at #77 CR 5005 just South of Bloomfield, along with an adult male and 6 children between the ages of 9 and 15. Sandoval-Medina was booked on charges of Possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia; she is also on an ICE detainer for being in the US illegally. This children were all released at the scene to family members.
During this operation agents seized over 1/2 pound of methamphetamine, 13 grams of cocaine and a small amount of marijuana, $13,203.00 cash, $450.00 in counterfeit US currency, 3 vehicles and 4 semi-automatic firearms one of which is an illegally modified Uzi 9mm. The narcotics have an estimated street value of over $36,000.00.
