Homicide Update: One individual wanted for questioning in custody

Around 8:00 pm on June 5, 2012 a brother of homicide victim Anthony Jaquez, went to a house in Bloomfield and tried to force his way inside. (The body of Jaquez had been found on Sunday, May 27, 2012 in a rural area approximately 2 miles north of NM 516.) Jaquez’s brother believed one of the men wanted for questioning in his brother’s death was inside, and was threatening bodily harm if he located him.

San Juan County Sheriff’s Deputies and Bloomfield Police Officers responded and conducted a search of the house and surrounding area. Gabe Alcon was found hiding behind a vehicle some distance away.

Detectives arrived and conducted interviews and further investigation. Alcon was eventually booked on a previously obtained warrant for several charges related to the homicide; to include Tampering with Evidence and Conspiracy to tamper with evidence. Based on the learned information, additional charges will be filed for Alcon’s role in the homicide.

Alcon was also booked on a warrant for Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and shooting at a dwelling. These charges are related to an incident that occurred several days prior to the homicide.

The search continues for the three other persons involved in the case. Anyone with information regarding their whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office.
