San Juan County, NMOn March 31, 2014, San Juan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 36 year-old Nathan Wallace of Farmington.  Wallace was arrested following a child pornography Wallace, Nathaninvestigation.  The investigation began when a 16 year-old Kirtland girl contacted a deputy in reference to an inappropriate sexual relationship she had been involved in.

The girl relayed that at her 16th birthday party, Wallace, who was a co-worker, seemed to take an interest in her.  He offered to be her personal fitness coach and the two became friends.  “Their relationship evolved however when Wallace began pressuring her to have sex with him and she eventually submitted”, explained SET (Special Enforcement Team) Deputy Robert Tallman.  “The girl further relayed that Wallace had sent her text messages, requesting nude pictures of her in sexually explicit poses.”  She admitted to sending him the requested pictures.  She told deputies that now she regrets her decisions and has remorse over the relationship.

SET deputies secured a search warrant for Wallace’s phone.  Upon examination, they located the described pictures, and also video footage of Wallace engaged in sex acts with the reporting girl.  They interviewed Wallace at the San Juan County Detention Center, where he was being held on an unrelated probation violation.  “Wallace initially denied even knowing the girl,” said Tallman.  “He eventually admitted knowing her, but said they never had any sort of relationship, sexual or otherwise.”

Deputies secured an arrest warrant, charging Wallace with:

  • Sexual exploitation of a child (causing or permitting to engage in Act, under 18) a 2nd degree felony, and
  • Sexual exploitation of children (possession) a 4th degree felony.

Wallace was booked into the San Juan County Detention Center on the warrant and is being held on a $35,000 cash only bond.
