Alcohol Considered to be a factor in Fatal Accident

On February 6, 2012 at approximately 2112 hours, deputies responded to the intersection of Murray Dr. and Lake St in reference to a two vehicle head on collision.

Upon arrival Deputy Tallman observed two vehicles a white 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix with heavy damage to the front end and a red 2009 Ford F-150 also with heavy damage to the front end.

During the course of the investigation it was determined that the driver of Vehicle #1 (white Grand Prix ) Nathaniel Saltclah, was traveling in the wrong lane of traffic at the time of impact. Saltclah was eastbound in the west bound lane of traffic on Murray Drive when he collided with vehicle #2 head on.

Vehicle #2 The Red Ford F-150 was driven by Melvin Yazzie and his wife Doris Yazzie. Both Mr. and Mrs. Yazzie sustained minor injuries. Saltclah sustained multiple injuries.

A passenger in the right front seat of Saltclah’s vehicle, Samuelson Antonio Jr., sustained multiple injuries. A passenger in the left rear of Saltclah’s vehicle, Orlando Ettcity, sustained multiple injuries. A passenger in the right rear of Saltclah’s vehicle, Samuelson Antonio Sr., was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses state that Melvin Yazzie attempted to avoid the collision with Saltclah’s vehicle but was unable to.

Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the accident. Any additional outcome is pending as the case is still being investigated.
