The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office is guided by qualified and dedicated administrators.
They include:
Sheriff Ken Christesen & Undersheriff Ron Anderson
The Sheriff is elected to a four-year term and appoints an Undersheriff who serves as his second in command. Sheriff Ken Christesen is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the agency and the Undersheriff is charged with insuring the operational and administrative functions of the Sheriff’s Office are performed in a professional manner.
The Sheriff’s Office is also divided into three divisions, Patrol, Detectives and Support Services.

CAPTAINS:
Captain is the highest rank that an officer can “test” to achieve within the Civil Service. All ranks above Captain are appointed.

- LIEUTENANTS:
Lieutenants typically command a shift of officers in Patrol, or a group of units within the Investigations Division. There are six lieutenants in the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, both in uniformed and plain clothes positions
- SERGEANTS:
Sergeants are the supervisory rank in sheriff’s office. Almost all officers are assigned under a sergeant in their positions. There are eleven sergeants in the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office in both uniformed and plain clothes positions.
