About Us

Located in very heart of the Four Corners area (Aztec, NM), the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office is very proud to serve this community. Led by Sheriff Ken Christesen, this Office is responsible for enforcing the laws of New Mexico within San Juan County.

The employees of the Sheriff’s office take great pride in their positions, and maintain a high standard of service to those we are sworn to protect. We share the concerns for the safety of all citizens and strive to keep San Juan County a safe and secure place to live.

San Juan County, New Mexico is currently home to more than 128,000 residents and covers 5,500 square miles. There are three major cities within our county, these are: Aztec, Bloomfield and Farmington.

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office believes in partnering with the community, and in upholding the law in a fair and equal manner. Each citizen in San Juan County can be proud to share in the pro-active strategies and successes of your Sheriff’s Office.

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office has three stations located around the county.

Our main office is located in Aztec, NM and we have substations in the Lee Acres and Kirtland areas.
