Pedestrian Struck and Killed on US 64

Pedestrian Struck and Killed on US 64 

 

SAN JUAN COUNTY, NM – San Juan County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle at approximately 2241 hours yesterday.  The incident occurred near the 57 mile marker of US Highway 64.

“It appears that the female victim was walking across US64 northbound near the 57 mile marker,” explained Sergeant Mark Pfetzer.  “She crossed the eastbound lanes and entered the center median.  As she walked into the westbound lanes she was struck by a passenger car.  She was then struck by a white truck as well.”

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.  The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family.  At this time witnesses are being sought for further investigation and possible charges are pending.

UPDATE  11:04 AM:

                 The victim has been identified as Lucinda John age 36 from Red Valley Arizona.
